Digital HD file, 4:3, 20 minutes and 19 seconds, sound
A photograph taken two or three years after I moved with my family from Cape Verde to Lisbon undergoes disfiguration into something monstrous. The accompanying soundtrack incorporates manipulated sounds from popular songs by Cape Verdean diaspora musicians, along with partly imperceptible extracts from dialogues in Portuguese and English colonialist films.
